Marseilles 11 and 12 year-old All-Stars sweep Marseilles Tournament
Marseilles 11 and 12 year-old All-Stars stay won the Championship in the Marseilles Tournament in a hard fought game over Grand Ridge. Undefeated in the series Marseilles beat Morris in their first game Tuesday July 8th. Marseilles and Sandwich were set to face off Thursday July 10th when games had to be cancelled due to severe weather, all games were pushed back a day and the two met Friday, July 11. Marseilles jumped out to an early lead but Sandwich refused to give up. Sandwich fought back to bring the game close but Marseilles held on,
thanks, in part to the pitching of Luke Sohan. Grand Ridge was knocked into the losers bracket in the first round by Pontiac but stepped up their game and battle all the way back to face Sandwich in the semi-final game. With the schedule having to be pushed back, the semi-final and Championship games were played on Sunday July, 13th, with Grand Ridge having to play a double header. Both teams played as hard as they could but Grand Ridge was unable to catch up to the pitching of Brandon Buck, who threw all six innings for the win, allowing only one run. Marseilles heads to Sandwich next to try an keep their streak alive, play hard and Good Luck boys.

Brandon Buck won the MVP honors in the Marseilles All-Star tournament. Brandon is a twelve year old that has been the dominant pitcher in the league this year. During the regular season he has continually shut teams down with his pitching. He also hit 15 home-runs in the regular season, an amazing feat considering many teams refused to pitch to him, electing to intentionally walk him instead. Once on base though he would make the most of every situation. His long legs and quick feet allowed him to steal bases almost at will. During the tournament Brandon did not hit any home runs but helped the team in driving in runs, fielding and pitching.

Just some of the action during the 9 and 10 year-old All-Star tournament. Marseilles hosted 8 teams including our own, in a double elimination tournament. Towns in attendance were Marseilles, Grand Ridge, Ottawa, Seneca, Morris, Pontiac, Sandwich and Dwight. The 9 and 10 tournament turned out to be just as exciting as the older boys, with Ottawa eventually over coming Sandwich in a hard fought game that went the distance. Ottawa and Sandwich went back and forth until the last inning when Ottawa, the home team was able to score the
winning run. To see more photos click the Photos link above and click on Boys all- stars, 9 & 10. Look for more to be added soon.
The girls All-Star tournament is coming together. We have 5 teams confirmed with a possibility of as many as 8 for the older girls. We are still seeking 11u teams and working hard to lock them in. We are trying to host the largest girls tournament in the area, along the lines of the one we host for the boys. As soon as we lock all the teams in we will send out schedules as well as post a link you can print from here. Anyone interested may contact us through the link at the bottom of the page. Be sure to add a daytime and night time phone number were you can be reached. The fee is $175 per team, and the dates will be July 21st through the 26th, with Sunday as the rain day.
