Field Day and Awards Ceremony to be held Sunday August 9
Plans for the Awards ceremony and field day have been finalized. We will hold the ceremony and field day on Sunday August 9th from 1 to 4 pm at the diamonds. There will be skill contests that each division will compete in and prizes will be awarded to the winner of each. This is a family day but only those who played at the Little League (boys and girls) or Pony League may compete. After the contests we will offer a light lunch followed by the awards ceremony. This date will also be the official uniform turn in date, please have all your jerseys clean (no need to turn anything else in). Please let your coaches know how many will be attending no later than Wednesday so we can get an idea of how much food we will need.
Girls All-Star tournament Will Forge Ahead
The Marseilles Girls All-Star Tournament starts today Monday July 27th. It has been a struggle to line teams up, and despite several towns backing out, we are going to forge ahead with the tournament. We will have a modified round robin style tournament, 3 teams for the 11U and 4 teams for the 14U divisions. Each team will play all other teams in their division, during the week for their seeding then play on Saturday until we have a champion. A bracket is now available by clicking the link for the Girls All-Star Brackets, There are two tabs at the bottom of the spread sheet so be sure to click on your division.
Flag Football information will now be available on this web site
I have been receiving many comments and searches for information, through this web site, in reference to the flag football program. As many of you know I have been involved in that program for many years, first as a coach then as a referee. As I inquired about the program this year I learned that no one has stepped forward to head it up this year. Thus, I have decided to take on that role as well, I will be gathering all the necessary information and will be scheduling sign-ups within the next few weeks. I will be posting information about registration and scheduling here as soon as it is ready. I ask that all those who have been involved in the past pass the word along and that those who coached last year start lining up returning players. I feel we have a really good program and hope to continue the strong tradition. You will note that the buttons at the top of the page now have options for football that will be linked to the appropriate pages as soon as things are finalized.
Elections for Board to be held in October
Marseilles Youth Sports will be holding election of officers at the regular monthly meeting in October. Nominations will be taken during the September meeting, anyone interested in running for a position on the board should submit their names either through the Contact button or in writing and submit it at one of the preceding meetings. We have 5 positions, President, Vice President, Second Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary. You may run for any of these positions and will be voted on according to our By-Laws. This months meeting has to be held on the second Tuesday of the month, August 11th, due to scheduling conflicts. All other meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of the month.
August Monthly Meeting to be held on 2nd Tuesday
This upcoming monthly meeting will be held on August 11th, 7:30pm at City Hall. We had to change the date of this meeting from our normal first Tuesday because of a scheduling conflict. We ask that everyone involved in the program in any way attend as well as those interested, we will be reviewing the past season and ways to make improvements for next year, as well as discussing and planning improvements to the fields. I have also been looking into forming a 17u girls team for next year in response to many of our older players requests. This is still ongoing and I will post further infomation as it becomes available.
